The couple, who are self-isolating together at Luke's family home in Luton, also spoke about how they ended up appearing on Love Island, with both Luke and Siannise revealing they were approached to go on the ITV2 dating show.

Siannise was working on a beauty county and was scouted by ITV, who then invited her to a one-to-one audition, while Luke T, on the other hand was approached on Instagram.

He recalled heading into ITV's head office at the start of the audition process, where he found himself sitting amongst 300 other boys all in 'skinny jeans, shirts and with quiffed hair'.

Both admitted that neither of them would have actually applied for Love Island, had they not been approached by the show.

It comes as reports claim Love Island has reached its highest number of applicants on record for the show's summer series while in lockdown.

Love Island is set to return later this year in its usual location of Majorca, but nothing has officially been confirmed by ITV, given the current pandemic and lockdown measures in place currently restricting travel.

That doesn't seem to have put future islanders off, however, with an insider telling The Sun: 'Applications have gone through the roof since lockdown. Never before have so many people applied in this six-week time span.'

They continued: 'Over seventy per cent of the applications have come from 18 to 28-year-olds and 온라인키자노 the videos being sent in have been more creative than ever as people have more time on their hands.'

Going strong: Luke is planning to finish his university degree now the show is over, while Siannise wants to pursue performing again

The insider suggested that once the candidates for Love Island's summer series have been shortlisted in the 'coming weeks', they'll then be interviewed virtually by the team, with ITV having to bring in 'extra staff' to accommodate the high numbers.

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Love Island for comment.

Many TV shows have been forced to postpone filming and upcoming series in order to adhere to lockdown restrictions in place because of COVID-19.

Shows like The Apprentice have scrapped their plans for a 2020 series, while reports suggest I'm A Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing are hopeful they can still go ahead.

Love Island usually airs towards the end of May/beginning of June - suggesting that if the show were to go ahead, it is likely to be postponed.

Its first ever winter series aired onscreen, earlier this year, with Paige Turley and Finley Tapp beating Siannise and Luke T by one per cent of the public vote to be crowned Love Island winners.
