TIPOLOGIA LINGUÍSTICA: MÉTODOS, GENERALIZAÇÕES E DIACRONIA

Resumo


Este artigo introduz as principais questões e métodos característicos da Tipologia Linguistica, uma disciplina bastante consolidada nos estudos linguísticos, mas com pouca divulgação em língua portuguesa. A partir da comparação de línguas de diferentes origens e distribuição geográfica, os estudos tipológicos investigam os limites da diversidade linguística, as relações entre diferentes estruturas gramaticais e os universais linguísticos. Essas investigações têm trazido muitas contribuições para o conhecimento que se tem hoje acerca do fenômeno geral da linguagem humana. Neste artigo, além do destaque dado aos métodos de amostragem, de comparação de línguas e aos universais linguísticos, também se discute como as generalizações tipológicas podem-se aplicar, também, na diacronia.
