A REPRESENTAÇÃO DE CONFLITOS RACIAIS NO ROMANCE THE LONG SONG, DE ANDREA LEVY
Resumo
Este artigo, como parte do projeto Literatura e Identidade, analisa a representação de conflitos raciais no romance The long song (2010), escrito por Andrea Levy. Partindo das reflexões de Deborah A. Thomas (2013), Steve Garner (2009) e Teun A. Van Dijk (1992), este trabalho utiliza-se de suas teorizações em volta dos conceitos de raça, a fim de discutir a construção e reprodução de conflitos raciais a partir do olhar da personagem Caroline Mortimer, representante do grupo dominante. Essa representação é baseada em três processos centrais: percepções do sujeito negro por parte do grupo dominante, internalização do papel de senhora e utilização da violência. Nesses diferentes vetores da interação social, a personagem principal adota e reproduz visões de mundo presentes no meio em que está inserida.
